Pixel Trees
I have been working on a series of pixel trees and I wanted to feature these on the homepage because I am quite proud of them.
For several of these I was using non-traditional pixel techniques, Gradients and Opacity in particular. Ultimately I think these distract from the pixel art so I don’t expect to be continuing with that technique.
For each of these I start with a color palette and then begin with a gesture of the trunk. I refine the line of the trunks to be clear and interesting and then I add leaves. With the latest one, the Crow and the Crabapple tree, I wanted to make the branches more interwoven and chaotic, closer to a real 3D tree, without losing the readability on a pixel level.

About the Artist
I am an artist and a developer and a writer. I am not a photographer, but I have a fuckton of photos here because they are nice to take. I am a jack of all trades and a master of none. I collect rocks and notebooks and leaves and dice. I wanted to organize all my shit for my own brain and so I can share it with others if they want to look – so look. If you don’t like part of it then that part was just for me to enjoy making. It’s a portfolio of sorts, or a scrapbook, or a randomized list.
I have Anxiety – I have a hard time finishing projects – I write a lot of stuff and then delete it all before showing anyone.

I spent a lot of time building this site on a custom theme in WordPress, so in addition to appriciating the cool content I have to show, please appriciate the cool website I made to show it all with.
My mom has a website too; sally-stormon.com
